Electric self-climbing stacker can move along with trucks and finish loading and unloading independently without extra forklifts, which is widely used in short-distance freight business. However, various faults may happen after long-time high-frequency operation. Equipment downtime will delay loading efficiency. Learning what faults are prone to occur on electric truck-mounted forklift, locating failure sources and carrying out daily management can reduce the risk of shutdown.

The hydraulic lifting system has the highest failure rate on this type of equipment. Deteriorated hydraulic oil, insufficient oil volume or aging sealing parts will lead to weak lifting force, stuck lifting movement, and even the forks cannot drop down.

Solutions: Check the oil level briefly before operation, replace hydraulic oil regularly to prevent impurities entering the oil circuit and wearing the valve body. Do not keep operating forcibly when the lifting speed becomes unstable, or the oil cylinder may get damaged.

Battery power supply problems also happen frequently. Frequent power loss, incomplete charging, or loose and oxidized wiring terminals will cause unstable power output, and the equipment may start and stop intermittently.

Solutions: Bumpy road conditions during transportation easily loosen wires. Inspect wire connectors before each departure, standardize charging and discharging operations, and avoid long-time full-load work to slow down battery aging.

Travel transmission parts tend to wear under bumpy road conditions. When rubber layers of travelling wheels and drive wheels wear after long contact with rough ground, slipping and declined travelling power will occur. Lack of lubrication on chains and hinge pins will generate abnormal noise during lifting, and jamming may happen in serious cases.

Reduce Failures of Truck Mounted Forklift

Solutions: Add lubricating oil to transmission parts regularly and check tyre wear status. Replace accessories timely once wear exceeds the standard.

Improper operation will accelerate equipment damage. Overloading and offset cargo placement increase stress on the whole machine, which will cause frame deformation and overload operation of hydraulic system in the long run. If the equipment is not fixed firmly when stored on trucks, continuous vibration during transportation will speed up loosening of components.

Solutions: Strictly follow the rated load during operation and place cargo at the center. Fasten the equipment well in vehicle transportation.
