Is Walkie Counterbalance Stacker Suitable For Cold Storage Use
Can a walkie counterbalance stacker work in cold storage environments? The short answer is yes, but standard models cannot be deployed directly for low-temperature tasks. Special configuration upgrades are required to prevent frequent breakdowns and keep warehouse operations running smoothly.
The legless walkie stacker for cold storage keeps stability by rear counterweight without front outriggers, delivering better maneuverability between cold storage racks. However, low temperature, condensation and ice bring severe challenges to the whole unit. Most cold rooms run at -18℃ to -25℃. Low temperature cuts battery performance sharply. Standard lead-acid batteries suffer obvious range loss, and lithium batteries without low-temperature protection show unstable charge and discharge performance.

Frequent entry and exit create huge temperature differences. Condensation forms inside electrical cabinets and freezes quickly, triggering short circuits and contactor failure. Hydraulic oil turns viscous to cause jerky lifting, while seals harden and age faster, leading to oil leakage. Icy floors raise slip risks for counterbalance type trucks.
Qualified cold storage versions adopt targeted upgrades. Low-temperature controllers with anti-condensation heating modules are equipped. Special low-temperature lithium batteries maintain steady power output. The hydraulic system uses cold-resistant hydraulic oil matched with low-temperature seals, and anti-slip rubber tires improve grip on icy ground.

Follow operational rules during daily work. Do not leave the truck inside the cold room for long periods. Return it to a normal-temperature charging area after work for gradual warming to reduce condensation. Move slowly on icy surfaces, avoid sharp turns and abrupt starts or stops, and reduce load weight instead of full-load stacking to prevent skidding.
