Walk-behind electric pallet truck relies on batteries as its core component. Proper maintenance reduces failures and extends service life. Improper charging and storage operations by warehouse staff usually lead to premature battery degradation. If you wonder how to maintain the battery of walk-behind electric pallet jack, you can find detailed guidance below.
Control the charging schedule properly. It is best to charge the battery when 20% to 30% power remains. Do not wait until the battery drains completely and the machine stops running. Deep discharge will easily damage the battery cells.

Keep the charging area ventilated and dry. Avoid direct sunlight, low temperature and humid locations. Do not cover the charger or battery during charging. Disconnect the power supply promptly after charging finishes to prevent long-term float charging.
Drive smoothly during operation and avoid frequent rapid acceleration and hard braking. Continuous heavy-load work causes high-current discharge and temperature rise, which speeds up battery aging. For cold storage applications, preheat the battery. Do not run heavy loads immediately right after charging.
Carry out regular visual inspection. Check battery terminals frequently to ensure tight and clean connections without oxidation, leakage or bulging. Deal with whitish and corroded terminals in time. Stop using the machine once you find cracked or loose wiring harnesses to prevent short circuits.

For long-term storage, top up the battery periodically to keep the power at a moderate level. Do not store the battery fully charged or completely empty. The storage area should have suitable temperature and stay away from accumulated water and corrosive substances. Check the battery condition occasionally during idle periods.
Note the differences between lithium batteries and lead-acid batteries. Do not use non-original chargers for lithium batteries. Check the electrolyte level of lead-acid batteries and never run them with insufficient liquid. Stop using and replace the battery immediately if abnormal heat or bulging appears, to guarantee warehouse operation safety.
