Daily Maintenance Guide For Brushless Motor Controller of Electric Forklift
When browsing forklift suppliers, you will frequently see manufacturers promoting brushless motor equipment. Many operators wonder: Does Brushless Motor Controller Need Maintenance? Lots of people believe brushless motors are completely maintenance-free. However, neglecting regular cleaning and wiring inspection will trigger costly faults including weak driving power, sudden shutdown and burnt controllers. Carry out the three maintenance measures below to avoid such failures on your Electric Forklift.
1. Regular Dust Removal & Heat Dissipation – Prevent Controller Burnout Caused By Overheat
Brushless controllers generate continuous heat during operation. Blocked heat dissipation vents will lead to excessive internal temperature and burnt power tubes. After daily work, use dry brushes or air blowers to clear dust, wood scraps and metal powder accumulated in gaps and cooling slots of the controller housing. For dusty hardware processing workshops, conduct thorough deep cleaning every week.

Never rinse the controller directly with water. Reserve sufficient ventilation space around the controller; do not block cooling areas with cartons or pallets. Avoid continuous heavy-load operation for long hours. Wipe off residual moisture after cleaning in humid workshops to prevent short circuits caused by dust mixed with water.
2. Tighten & Inspect Wiring Terminals – Avoid Poor Contact & Spark Damage
Long-term vibration and jolts loosen controller terminals, resulting in bad connection and sparking, which is the top cause of controller damage. Cut off power monthly and open the controller cover to inspect power cables, motor phase wires and Hall sensor wire terminals. Tighten blackened, oxidized or loose terminals immediately. Polish contact surfaces or replace wiring harnesses if severe oxidation occurs. Check for worn outer insulation on wires; install protective sleeves on damaged areas to avoid short circuits against metal frames that break the controller. Wipe metal contacts of battery plugs regularly to prevent high resistance from oxidation, which causes unstable power supply and jerky movement of the Electric Forklift.

3. Moisture & Waterproof Protection – Stop Circuit Corrosion & Short Circuits
Controllers contain delicate circuit boards. Water vapor and condensed water corrode internal circuits and trigger runaway electric leakage. Do not park the electric forklift outdoors on rainy days. Clean pooled water on workshop floors to stop moisture seeping into the controller box. Check sealing gaskets regularly for food factories and high-humidity cold storage; replace aging gaskets that leak water instantly. Only wipe the whole truck surface during cleaning. Never spray high-pressure water directly on the controller or handle wiring areas. Disconnect the main battery power if the forklift will sit idle for a long time, and store it in a dry, ventilated warehouse to reduce circuit board damp oxidation.
In conclusion, master these three maintenance routines if you want longer service life and fewer breakdowns from your brushless motor system. Proper upkeep for your Electric Forklift effectively cuts overall operating costs.
